Hi All,
MNC's! When we hear this, the names that strike our mind are PEPSI, Coco-Cola, Microsoft, Google, Standard Chartered, Hutch, and the list is endless. The question is are they better performers than us. Lets compare, in India, is there any cool drinks company as big as PEPSI or Coco-Cola, No! they are ruling India, may be the pesticides fear has reduced their sales but are they lagging behind? NO. Now coming to software companies, being honest, if given two offers of same package, which would you choose from an offer by an MNC or a domestic company. Majority would choose an MNC because it has lot to offer other than pay-pack, the environment, the culture among others.
I will take a small example to justify my point. Consider Google, a web-based company as known to all, according to recent ad released in "Times of India". No one has left Google since 2004. Can you believe it, in a scenario one in a week we receive a mail from one of our colleague who joins another company. Google rewards for innovativeness, it provides 20% of its time to innovative ideas to its employees. Google is unique in this regard, the employee is free to choose his own project, technology, place and the solution to a given problem. Each one has an opportunity to become a project lead before the completion of the project.
I quoted this example to show our mindset of working under a project lead, team lead, and with much of hierarchy. I dont say this is a scenario in each and every company. The Indian companies are leading. No doubt, but in services sector. The culture of innovativeness have to be devleoped. We should fight the competition from basics. I would say given the present situation, MNC's are superior than Indian Companies of course they arefew exceptions like Satyam, Wipro, Infosys, but down to the ground reality, you would find there is a cultural gap which is called professionalism.
Wishing you all success.
