Re: We need your input - Administrator
Admin,
Online tutorials (recorded), as suggested by vjsreevs is a good one. we can think of it in collaboration with bobshare. But having e-class is not a very good ideas as far as I can predict. Earlier the same issue was raised by Sowmya and we had a good discussion on it in "Ideas Vault", the section which I couldn't find now.
The first thing I suggest is, make the user interface simpler. Even if we have 1000's of features and if the basic interface itself is complex and messy, probably no one like it. What we have to remember is, 95% of the users use only basic features. Only remaining 5% uses advanced features.
I don't know how many people observed this. But I feel that there is some or other change every week in this forum. But no one is kept informed about this. We should have some mechanism to keep people informed (atleast to frequent visitors or senior members).
We should have some mechanism to take users area of interest and we should display those threads first than others. This will simplify the search process of users and will be more user-friendly.
When any incentives are announced with a grand announcement, follow it. I am member of this forums from the very initial days. I know many annoucements which were very grand but no one bothered them later.
Let us move the companies interview questions and old papers to the forums which I believe, now it is a link from home page. That will give more focus to them which especially freshers need.
If any question is posted in contests section by sk.net team, also take additional efforts to post the answer also. Otherwise, this is a very good effort for sk.net team. I must appreciate it.
Now a days I am seeing lot of discripencies how posts are displayed. Posts display differently in different browsers. Make it consistant. I know its not a very simple thing to achieve. But looking at the technical level our forums is in, I belive our developement team can do it.
I want one of the very old feature of the forums back. That is, ability to query/list the posts which were updated in the last 15 mins, 1 hr, 6 hrs and so on. With the current forums, we can view all the posts those were updated from the last visit and is an excellent feature. But after I reply to any post and wait for some time and refresh the page, I will not be able to see the posts which were in my search page and which I have to go through. Search page will display only new posts those were updated after my posting. This should not happen. So, if we bring back the old feature, it will help to some extent. This feature will especially help active participants (these are the people who make most of the users to come back again and again).
I have many more complaints and suggestion. I will post them in next posts.
Thanks,
Krishna
