Hi friends solve this problem.and explain the approach.

A certain number of men can finish a piece of
work in 10 days. If
however there were 10 men less it will take 10 days
more for the work to
be finished. How many men were there originally?

ANS:110

plz let me know the hw to solve these type probs.

hi,

check ur given data.u have typed 10 instead of 100 wrongly.

Originally,let there be x men.

Less men , more days(indirect proposition)

(x-10):x::100:110

(x-10)*110=x*100

ANS: x=110

Solution:

Originally,let there be x men

According to 2nd line,10 men less.

So,less men means it takes more days to finish.Hence it is an indirect proposition.

Days 100 110::Men x (x-10)

(x-10)*110=x*100

Ans:110

Let 1 man's 1 day work = w
so n man's 10 day work = 10 n w

(n-10) (20) w = 10 man less than n will take 10 days more (i.e. 20 days) and one man's 1 day work remains same

since work is same, sp 10nw = 20(n-10)w
=> n =20
arre!!!! my ans is wrong

100 n w = 110(n-10)w

=> n = 110
