hi,
A family has 20 members & 20 breads.Half bread to every child,2 to every lady,3 to every man.How many children,ladies,men in the family?

c/2 + 2W + 3M = 20

c + w + m = 20

c can only be even no.
w<10 coz' when w<=10 then 2w exceeds 20, the total no. of breads
from this u can say that w<=8 coz' c shud' be at least 2 and m shud' be at least 1

again same reasoning M<=5

......................blah blah...................

now let's solve the problem:
u have 2 equations:
c + m + w = 20
and
c/2 + 3m + 2w = 20

multiply 2nd equation with 2 and subtract the 2 equations, u get
3w + 5m = 20
only m=1 will give integral value for w
=> m = 1 , w=5, c = 14

Interpretation: 1 man, 5 women and 14 children, pretty interesting, huh? :)
