let weight of 1 melon be W let length of one side be L1 and other be L2 1 kilogram on left balances 8 melons on right torque on both sides must be equal L1 = L2 * 8W or, L1/L2 = 8W -----------------------------(i) 1 kilogram on right balances 2 melons on left so, L1 * 2W = L2 L1/L2 = 1/2W ----------------(ii) equating (i) and (ii) 1/2W = 8W W square = 1/16 W = 1/4 kg

2>There are 3 types of apples in a box. What is the number of apples we should take so that we end up with 3 apples of one kind.
Ans: 7 let 3 types of apples be A, B, C if we take out 6 apples... then in the worst case, we can have 2 apples of each kind but we want that there should be a guarantee that 3 apples of 1 kind will be pulled out... so, if we pick up 7 apples.. it is sure that at least one type of apples will be 3 in number...

5>Three clocks where set to true time. First run with the exact time. Second slows one minute/day. Third gains one minute/day. After how many days they will show true time.
the 3 clockes will show same time, when the slower watch becomes exactly 12 hrs behind n faster becomes exactly 12 hrs ahead now 12 hrs = 720 min these watches gain n lose 1 min per day... so all three clocks will show true time after 720 days

i got the ans as 35 min. let the 3 persons be A, B, and C it takes 15 min to cut hair n 5 min to shave... in the 1st 15 min, A n B get their hair cut. in next 15 min, C gets his hair cut by 1st barber... during the same time, the 2nd barber can shave A n B the 2nd barber has 5 min spare... if he can shave C, simultaneously while 1st barber is cutting hair.. then all 3 will be free in 30 min otherwise, it will take 5 min extra for shaving C...
