Hello friends,
I am naveen, I completed my B.E(EEE) in the year 2003. After my gradution i prepared for GATE but i can't get through it. Not interested to sit idle i did certified course in Embedded system from reputed instit. I did a job for almost 1.5 year as a design engineer in the field of furnace which is not at all related to embedded. I got bored with job and resigned to it. As there is long gap i lost grip with embedded and i learned testing, i am in search of job now in the field of testing. Now the problem is how to start my job search --- as a fresher (bcz i am new to this field) or with exp (by keeping fake exp.) my friends told me tht i can't get job as a fresher. Plz guide me for my job search. |

Re: Plz Guide Me with ur valuble suggestion
Hi Friend,
Start off your job search as an experienced (not the fake Exp in testing) but as an experienced design engineer. Do not fake at any cost. Just mention the previous work experience and courses done by you and the reason for quitting the job. This would be acceptable. The field in which you have worked in the past might be different but it wont affect to grab a new job in a different field. You just need to have good testing skills. And moreover you can turn around your situation from what u have stated to a better one by showing yourself as a person who has finally found a field of his liking (in your case - testing). In your interviews, you can state that your job as a fresher in the previous company wasn't related to embedded systems and you had to quit after confirming that there was no job satisfaction. Then you can add that you came to know about the lucrative testing field from a friend (or any other media u like) and after giving a lot of thought you decided to go for it. You can also mention that after entering the testing course you found it more interesting than the embedded systems and decided to make your career in this field. To grab a new job, you need to have a sound knowledge about that job and good convincing skills (in HR round). Then you can apply for job with whatever identity you have. Of course, you will have to start from the bottom and climb up the ladder as it is a new field. All the very best to your job search. Archana |

Thank You for your valuble suggestion
but i am still confused. How to approach to a company? with wht type of experience ? Many companies says cadidate having this much of exp. in testing can apply for this job and so and so. but not as exp. in other field is not considered as an experienced person in testing. and one more thing while preparing resume how to make it? |

Re: Plz Guide Me with ur valuble suggestion
Hi Naveen,
As sree has mentioned, start off your job search with the small companies as they wont expect Previous Exp. If you cant find the suitable job opportunities, approach some consultancy, this would be helpful. In your resume, mention your 1.5 yr Exp as a design engineer+embedded system course+testing course. One more important thing is highlight your strengths and goal. In your interviews, try to convince the interviewer as I have explained above. Dont worry about the Exp. Knowledge is power |
