Salary vs CTC + few more

Hi Professionals,

Can you please say me what is the difference between Gross Salary and the CTC?


Also can you please give me the average salary details in terms of Gross and CTC per month or per annum, for Mainframe freshers and rofessionals
with 1 yr exp in the current trend in TCS, CTS, Satyam, Wipro, Accenture, Infy, LnT, etc.


I have 2 yrs IT exp (Microsoft Technologies) and now I am a Mainframe fresher after Mainframe training for 6 months. So what should be my Expected CTC??


If we say CTC is 2.4 LPA, then what would be our actual monthly take home?


Can you please rank the top MNCs to work in terms of salary, growth, future, etc among IBM / CTS / Satyam / LnT / TCS / Wipro / Accenture??


Why is that a professional from Satyam moves to CTS and at the same time one from CTS moves to Satyam?

Following are my answers to the best of my knowledge.

When it comes to salary, both are same. (In general usage)

If we say CTC is 2.4 LPA, then what would be our actual monthly take home?
Our takehome actually depends on taxable and non-taxable items in our pay cheque and additional deductions by company (for employee clubs...). It varies from company to company. In common, you can assume around 17k as take home.

Can you please rank the top MNCs to work in terms of salary, growth, future, etc among IBM / CTS / Satyam / LnT / TCS / Wipro / Accenture??
I can't exactly rank/compare one company to another. All companies have good reputation in their own specializations. Also, ranking mainly depends on our personal priorities.
As far as I know, if we rank these companies from pay perspective, IBM stands first. If it is job security, TCS stands first.

Why is that a professional from Satyam moves to CTS and at the same time one from CTS moves to Satyam?
Simple answer for this is "pay cheque". If you need a big hike, then shift the company.

Hi All,

I have 6 Year experiance in Microsoft technolgies mainly C++ realated. If i am changing whcih out of the following will be better. package is more or less same. Currently I am a SSE in one of the reputed company.

Project Lead in Mindtree.
TechLead in Sapient
SSE in McAfee
