15 min before we consider 4 clock and foru time means 4*15=60
at six o clock it 8 times.

Let x be the present time in munutes then as per the question the equation should be,
x-50 = 4 (3*60)
upon solving the equation you will get x =770 minutes = 12 hrs 50 minutes...
So, it is now clear that 50 minutes ago (if it is 12 past 50 minutes on the clock), it was 4 times as many minutes past 3 o'clock...
Now the question is how many minutes is it to 6 o'clock....
6:00 - 12:50 = 5:10 hrs = (5*60 +10) minutes = 310 minutes...

The question doesn't seem to be right as the term as many minutes past 3'O clock is confusing.Anirudha has assumed it as 3*60 which doesn't seem to be right.Sometimes we should be careful while trying to understand the question.I think we should take past 3'O clock as upto 12 in the night..
