A family I know has several children. Each boy in this
family has as many sisters as brothers but each girl has
twice as many brothers as sisters. How many brothers
and sisters are there?

4 boys and 3 girls

let no of boys in family be x
no of girls be y

x-1=y--->eq1
x=2(y-1)--->eq2
solving eq1 n 2 we get
x=4,y=3.
