1. These are the numbers that are the first five terms of a series that add upto 150. Can you name five terms of another series without fractions that add upto 153? 10, 20, 30: 40, 50

2 . Is a 'size 16' knitting,needle twice as thick as a 'size 8' knitting needle?

3. I opened my mail box this morning. What do I see in it? A chain-letter. This seems to turn up every now and then in one form or another. I began to wonder. If one person sends a certain letter to two friends, asking each of them to copy the letter and send it to two of their friends, those in turn each send two letters to two of their friends and so on how many letters would have been sent by the time the letter did thirty sets. I calculated and I had a surprise waiting for me. The answer was gigantic. What do you think the answer was?

4. There are 150 members in my club. We decided to have a ping pong tournament. All the members came forward to play in the game. Every time "I member loses a game he is out of the tournament. There are no ties. Can you tell how many games must be played in order to determine the champion?

5. 48, 60, 58, 72,68, 104.......
Here is a sequence. Can you find the two missingterms?

1. Each term in this series is a factorial, in other words, the product of all the numbers from 1 to the particular term considered. The first five terms of the series are, therefore 1, 2, 6, 24, 120 and the sum of these numbers is 153.
.
2. No. Knitting needles conform to the Standard Wire Guage (S. W. G. ) sizes, and the larger the
S. W. G. number, the smaller is the diameter of the wire. .
3. The thirtieth set would consist of: 230 = 1073 74 1824 letters The first set consists of 2 or 21 letters. The second set consists of 4 or 22 letters. The third set consists of 8 or 23 letters. And therefore the 30th set would consist of 230 letters.

4. (150 - 1) = 149, since all but one lose one game.
5. 78, 116 The odd terms are in the decimal system and differ by 10. And each even term is the preceding odd term expressed in the octonary system. 78 - 8 = 9, remainder 6:9 : 8 = 1,
remainder 1.

5. 48, 60, 58, 72,68, 104.......
Here is a sequence. Can you find the two missingterms?

78 , 116

the series can be split into two

48 , 58, 68.............

60, 72,104...............

in the first series the difference is common = 10

The second series is octal representation of first series .to get octal equivalent of a number divide the no continuosly by 8 and take the remainders in each step

so th nect 2 terms are 78 and 116

116 is octal form of 78

Ans) 2 power 30

first person sends letters to 2 persons

In the second round they will send to 2 power2 = 4persons

In the third round they will send to 2 power3 = 8 persons

ans so on

In the 30th round they will send to 2 power 30 =1073741824 persons
