Puzzle Contest-139
On reaching the park, I saw that there were a total of 14 bicycles and tricycles. If the total number of wheels was 36 , how many tricycles were there?

14 bicycles = 14 X 2 = 28 wheels Remaining wheels = 36-28 = 8 There should be 2 tricycles and 1 extra wheel ![]() |

Re: Puzzle Contest-139
2 * 9 ( bycycle ) = 18 ( tyres )
3 * 6 ( tricycle ) = 18 ( tyres ) .......so 9 cycles 6 tricycles |

Re: Puzzle Contest-139
Let x be the no.of bicycles, and y be the no.of tricycles.
Then we have x+y=14; as given that there are a total of 14 bicycles and tricycles. if x is the no.of bicycles then no.of tyres of bicycles=2*x similarly no.of tyres of tricycles is=3*y therefore we have 2*x+3*y=36; solving the above 2 equations we get x=no.of bicycles =6 and y=no.of tricycles=8 |
