Job Description
The candidate to be responsible for the administration and support of DBA functions in all environments while ensuring system stability.
Should be able to administer, maintain, develop, implement and support complex database management systems including policies and procedures for ensuring security and integrity of the company databases.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- MS SQL and oracle installation, upgrades, logical design and physical implementation
- Proactive support for production systems, monitoring, performance optimization, troubleshooting, problem solving, provide timely feedback/follow-up on problems.
- Develop and implement Backup and Recovery Strategies.
- Ensure data recovery, maintenance, data integrity and space requirements are consistent across all systems
- Help insure that database maintenance processes are optimized and are automated for minimum human involvement. Reviews SQL code and database designs against standards and best practices.
- Application and database support & problem resolution within virtualized and non-virtualized Windows 32-bit & 64-bit OS, SQL Server 2000/ 2005, Oracle, Windows and non-Windows environment, Experience in MySQL
- Communicate plans, status and issues to the management and team.
- Participate in on-call duty, 24/7 pager rotation, weekend and off hour maintenance activities.
- Work with other IT staff in production support and project-oriented, team environment. Learn job related functions primarily through oral instruction and observation mainly in an on-the-job setting.

Desired Candidate Profile
Minimum Requirements:
Must demonstrate extensive experience and expertise in the following areas:
- 5 or more years of experience and expertise in administration, management, monitoring and performance tuning of small to large database systems involving MS SQL Server and Oracle databases, certification preferred
- Expertise in Backup and Recovery, Clustering, High Availability, Disaster Recovery, SOX audit
- Extensive experience working with Windows (2000 & 2003) environment. Excellent technical knowledge of Microsoft platforms and architectures. Experience in Linux and Unix environment will be added advantage
- Experience in scripting, SQL Tuning, Data Quality and Security as well as in various database design techniques
- Extensive experience in working with different storage systems; SAN including EMC, NetApp, HP
- Strong analytical/problem solving skills. Effective written and oral communication skills
- Ability to manage and meet deadlines, self motivated, punctual, and resourceful. Good interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and/or with minimal supervision
- A strong team player; offering guidance and sharing knowledge to other team members

Overall Education and Experience:
- BE/ME Computer Engineering, Computer Science, MIS or equivalent.
- 5 - 8 years of MS SQL Server admin experience in a high-availability environment.
- 3 - 5 years of Oracle Server administration experience in high-availability environment.
- SQL Server 2000/2005, Oracle experience including Query Optimization, Index Tuning, System Tuning, Security Admin, DTS Package Design, SQL Language/Query Tuning, Design and Development.
- Extensive experience with system troubleshooting and analysis. Excellent problem solving skills
- Strong verbal, written communication skills.
- Ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing environment.
