Job Description:
• Supports definition and ensure implementation of a global IT strategy and standards (integration, infrastructure, data, application, eBiz and business process) which meet the ongoing and future needs of Development.
• Provides high level expert, technical support and consultation to the business and IT management in all aspects of document oriented XML and its utilization in Development, particularly component-based content management and regulatory processes.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Define, optimize and standardize the IT architecture on a global basis within the defined business area.
• Plan and organize the implementation of new systems architectures and provide consulting.
• Ensure that the installed architecture satisfies defined performance, security and availability parameters.
• Proactively identify, together with the IT solution provider, any shortcomings in performance and propose solutions for their correction. Ensure adequacy of upgrades.
• Evaluate new technological developments and evolving business requirements and makes recommendations for improved service levels and efficiencies.
• Develop and implement proof-of-concept, prototypes and pilot applications to showcase emerging technologies and support decision-making in projects
• Act as the primary technical resource to client and IT staffs in all phases of development and implementation process.
• Provide in-depth technical and business knowledge to ensure efficient design, programming and implementation.
• Develop reports and presentations on infrastructure products and new technology for all levels of management and technical staff.
• Write related documentation (Statement of direction, blueprints, etc.) and communicate

Desired Profile:
• 3-5 years relevant work experience
• In-depth knowledge of XML and related standards (preferred: in life sciences)
• Practical experience with component management applications and integration in application landscape
• Experience with at least one of the major XML editors (preferred: development experience)
• Preferred: experience with DITA
• Preferred: active membership in relevant working groups
• Preferred: development of Web applications/services, SOA
