The Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO), wholly owned by the Government of Bahrain, is engaged in the oil industry including exploration and prospecting for oil, drilling, production, refining, distribution of petroleum products and natural gas, sales and exports of crude oil and refined products.
The company owns and operates a 250,000 barrels-a-day refinery, storage facilities for more than 14 million barrels, a marketing terminal and a marine terminal for its petroleum products.

Job Description :

Design, create, optimize, maintain and backup the Company's databases and provide technical support to other IT group.
Regularly monitor the use and performance-related issues of all corporate databases and review database configuration and performance.
Investigate and resolve all problems related to database access and to job/tasks that access database files, including backups and file transfers.
Develop and maintain existing production backup procedures including RMAN configuration.
Provide ad-hoc technical support and problem resolution providing technical assistance and support to the application development team on best practices.
Develop and maintain systems documentation, including data dictionary according to agreed designs and standards perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Desired Profile :

B.Tech/B.E. Computer Science or related discipline.
Minimum 8 years of work experience in the design and administration of Oracle databases for versions to 10G of which 3 years in a senior capacity leading projects in the planning, creation and support of relational and non-relational databases.
Sound abilities in carrying out investigative and diagnostic work on problems related to the database server infrastructure.
Experience in ensuring operational efficiency of a database environment in 24x7 operations. Proficient knowledge of Database performance tuning techniques, both overall database performance and SQL query tuning.
Strong Unix scripting knowledge and working knowledge of UNIX based environments.
A thorough knowledge of teleprocessing concepts which refer to software products those provide interactive facilities or database update and query.
Experience with Oracle E-business Suite 11i and 12i, Application Server 9iAS and 10gAS, Standby database design and OEM.
Proficient knowledge in the following areas would be advantageous: Oracle RAC, Data warehousing, Grid control and Oracle certification.
