1.a)8%

let the salary be x
then, expenditure on food and children's education=35x/100+25x/100

i.e. 60x/100

remaining portion of salary=x-60x/100 = 40x/100

hence, expenditure on house rent=80% of 40x/100=32x/100

hence total expenditure=60x/100+32x/100 = 92x/100

hence, the portion of salary the man is left with = x-92x/100

i.e. 8% of the income

2.b) Rs. 30000

90% of 80% of 80% of 90% of salary=15552
i.e. 51.84/100 of salary=15552
i.e. salary=30000

3.b)Rs. 8000

let Aman had Rs. x
then rohan had=40% of x
and sahil had=1/4*(40% of x) i.e. 1/4 * 40/100 * x=x/10
according to the question, x/10-200=600
hence x=8000

4.d) Rs. 32000

(100-(25+20))% of (100-(24+15))% of salary=10736
i.e. 55% of 61% of salary=10736
i.e. salary=32000

5.d)45
let the no of children be x
sweet received by each child=405/x
again according to question, 405/x=20% of x
i.e. 405/x=x/5
i.e. x*x=2025
hence x=45
