Rep Power: 2 | Re: LINUX VS WINDOWS It is said that the more you use things, the more you come to know. Thats the same conception applied here. If you use LINUX for more than that of WIndow you will feel it is as user friendly as WINDOW. The basic priciple of WINDOWS development is to have a platform that a end user can work with without anybody's much intervetion. But in LINUX it is a bit different, it covers all the network secuirity and having the capability to handle the load as a server. The GUI for the windows is so comfortable and so convinient to navigate. I think nothing is going out of world. They both will be used in IT and home applications for different purpose as they are meant for different.. |

Rep Power: 2 | Re: LINUX VS WINDOWS Although PC systems based on Linux and on MS Windows have the same objectives (running software applications), their underlying philosophy is very different. Windows is entirely controlled by Microsoft, and released as a monolithic system that you either install or you don’t; you buy a pack (or a PC that has a pack pre-installed), and that gives you everything you need to run your system. You even get some basic applications thrown in. The only thing you have to worry about is whether you have the latest version (and any patches). When a new version is released, you go out and buy a copy and install it on top of your existing system. This makes things very simple for the user, but you have no choice on what goes into this system: if you like it, fine; if not, tough. -------------- Shakira Janet Guaranteed ROI |

Rep Power: 1 | LINUX or WINDOWS depend on the usage,i.e the more you use the more familiar you become. In my opinion LINUX is better than LINUX because it is less prone to virus and also it is very difficult to hack LINUX as compared to WINDOWS. Majority of the multinational companies prefer LINUX over WINDOWS just because of the security it provides |

Rep Power: 1 | Re: LINUX VS WINDOWS Windows has two main lines. The older flavors are referred to as "Win9x" and consist of Windows 95, 98, 98SE and Me. The newer flavors are referred to as "NT class" and consist of Windows NT3, NT4, 2000, XP and Vista. Going back in time, Windows 3.x preceded Windows 95 by a few years. And before that, there were earlier versons of Windows, but they were not popular. Microsoft no longer supports Windows NT3, NT4, all the 9x versions and of course anything older. Support for Windows 2000 is partial. The flavors of Linux are referred to as distributions (often shortened to "distros"). All the Linux distributions released around the same time frame will use the same kernel (the guts of the Operating System). They differ in the add-on software provided, GUI, install process, price, documentation and technical support. Both Linux and Windows come in desktop and server editions. |

Rep Power: 1 | Re: LINUX VS WINDOWS True windows is the widely used format specially for end-user, because it is friendly user, specially if the user is not a geek, but the bad thing is it easily get virus. Unlike Linux it is tough in virus attack but not so user friendly. Linux user should be a geek, but most of people i know that are maintaining servers they are using Linux for OS. |
