cell-phones are strictly not permitted in college classroom during lecture hours it really distrub others even the person who is using.it really distrub the student concentration from the class lectures.class lectures is very much important for them because once the college life completed it not come back again "time never wait or come back for someone" so here its all about the student who really want to utilize there time in correct manner or waste by only enjoying .
As some one says here that mobile phone is must for students to contact or intouch with their parents yes i too agree that it helps but it shd'nt be neccessary for them if they really feels that they need mobile for communicating their family,then they need to fix appropriate timings to communicate with them but the timing shd'nt conflicts with class timings they shd'nt have such permission for to distrub others concentration during class room they have other plenty of time so if he/she really wants to enjoy his/her life with mobilephone with latest-to-latest technology phones then go ahead but college authorities shd keep some rules regarding cell-phone during class hours.

Cell phone is necessary in the college.Because now a days every body want to get the education out of his city.In this case student should carry the mobile phone.student could be call by their family for happy as well as sorrow.If some accident is happened in thei family,who will tell this incident to that student.frankly nobody would inform them.Not for this reason but there r so many reason r there like their placement information,academic information.& like wise....

cellphones r necessary nowadays.People cant live without communicating with others.Communication between people is very very important.

Coming to students part............cell phones necessary to them but they use them in a good manner.
In colleges cell phones must be allowed but banned in some restricted ares like Class rooms,staff rooms ,corriders and inside the campus.

I agree with vani nz, afterall it's your own choice to use or not use the cell phones in the colleges. If you want to use it use it in a proper way. Also camera phones should not be allowed in any colleges as it is not neccessary, and may lead to some unthinkable happenings because of camera phones. Thats my view on cell phone useage in colleges. And also it is the job of the parents not provide their child with all the facilities, because if the person gets addicted to it he may use it for the wrong purpose also.

Our GD topic is "cell phones is necessary in colleges" well this is good topic. As my opinion cell phones is not necessary in colleges because it creates the some problems like noise . And cell phone is not necessary at the student level. so universities strictly prohibited the cell phones. student level means under graduation they r not fully matured thats why they r not
properly use the cell phones like they r giving the missed calls to unknown persons and continouly chat with them ans waste their time and finally get the some problems. so if we want to elimnate all of these problems , universities and parents strictly consider this issue.

i would like to ask a question out here, most of the students today study out of their homeplace and to be in touch with their family they surely need a cell phone..isn't it?
It entirely depends on the person how he uses it, even a 60 year old man can misuse it if he feels so.

This is vinodkumarvuppu.coming to the present discussion ,my opinion is that mobilephones are necessary in the colleges.because now a days the students are going to the their interested institutions and courses where ever it may be.in these situations cell phones are necessary.It is also required for them to communicate with their friends.put a sside of those who will disturb others by their cellphones in classrooms and hostels.but latest mobile phones containing fm radios must be banned in the colleges.

many a time it happen that students carry there cellphone not only disturb there studies but also spoil concentration of other students.

even when there is a free period in the class, some students start listening FM or ring tone at full volume mainly for there time pass and disturb other students who want to study or discuss there doubt with each other therefore i think not only cell phone with camera should be baned but also cellphone with FM should be baned.......

ya it is hard for collage management to check whether students are having that type of cellphones or not but if they got any body taking snaps from cellphone or listening music at loud volume; management should immediately take action for that if they take strict action for even one or two students if others are even having cellphone with camera or music system will not use it in campus.

cellphone in collage should be used only when it is necessary.not for having fun.

and if collage really want to ban cellphone they should provide facility of STD/PCO in collage campus so that if it is necessary for students to talk to thr parents or any body than they can do so

According to my view.... cell phone is an excellent communicative device ... gone r the days of pager.and. tring tring. telephone... well this fact should be appreciative..
but when it comes to the point " ban cell phones in the college". it is a thinkable fact... as we cannot supress those who r in real need..of it.. as u see many parents can assure the safety of the pupil.thru it.... and regarding those u play cell phone as a gadget.. to entice people around him..its definetely a restrictable factor...and now with the latest technologies like bluetooth. mms...like many other features ruins the young minds..makes the youth more vulnerable in developing evil activities..resulting in poor academics....

well... i wud say cell phones isnt a necessity but thrs no harm in carrying one as far as it doesnt affect ur studiz... not al the students stay near the clg n all. so in case they need to b contacted itz best they have a cel phone wid them...
bt yes, one shoudnt b playin wid it during class hours...tht can become a misuse of the cell....
wat i wud say is...use cell phones in college only wen it cannot b avoided..
