Cell phones should be banned in colleges.Its compulsory as the students come to college for studies not for showing their phones or chatting ,gossiping with friends.Prestigious institutes like IIM"s not even allow phones in campus and there is a long queue for calling people there.There are more harm then good by using phones in campuses!!!

I totally conquer with your views! Let not our youngsters become cell parasites.

The first quarter of the life is the most important and difficult part of the life. That is when one gets easily attracted to all kinds of things, especially useless and unimportant aspects of life. Becz negativity has a faster influence on people when compared to positive aspects. That is why Swami Vivekananda said, "decide whether u want to struggle the first 25 yrs and enjoy the rest, or enjoy the first quarter and struggle the rest. The choice is yours."

When its the most important time to concentrate on studies, which is laying a foundation for ones career, diversions like media, cellphones, ect., makes one weak and studies get neglected, finally one ends up with unsettled mind and an unsettled job. For which one has to pay a very big price through out life.

Hence guys don't experiment with your lives!

Cell Phones have become one of the basic needs now a days. We hardly see ppl without carrying their cell phones. What I want to say is-" It has to left to an individual's desicion whether to carry the phone with him or not". We just cant restrict anyone from doing something, which has bcome part of their lives. To restrict so, in campuses, we have to put extra effort and extra resources,extra time in checking the things. Also, we cant rule out the point that there can be very imp msgs in our mobiles sometimes, where U may have to attend.
Let an individual decide whether he wants to chat/gossip on phones instead of concentrating on their studies. If not the cell, they may waste their time in other things.

Cell phones have a great role in the field of communication.In that sense it is a necessary thing in college according to the parent's view.In that it is a very nice thing so that we can get the information about the person who owned a cellphone.
In another view it is not necessary in colleges due to many pupils misusing it to send messages to some others during the class periods . In that case cellphones are not a necessary thing in colleges.
Cellphone is a necessary thing in colleges or not will depend on the person how he use it in college.

so y da cell phone sudnt be used in colleges....wt i personally feel is dat the students sud keep their cell phones off or on silent during da lecture else its not a harm in keeping it!!!!

Coll is da most imp phase of our life as our FUTURE is dependant on it...coz after passing v hv to start a new life,new Responsibilities wud be coming thru our way n if a person is not serious in his acadmics he /she cnt go thru!!!
Above all u cnt stop da students frm bringing da cell phones coz who 'll b chking their pkts evry day.Nobdy had such an ample amount of Time to look fwd to this!!!Its up to da students whether they wanna play wid their MOBILES or came here to study as "Time lost never come bk"

No one can stop the students from bringing cellphones to colleges if they want to bring, so don't restrict them for that thing.let them decide whether they should concentrate on studies or play with cellphones.Its their life. Cellphones aren't the only reason to lose the concetration on studies.there may be many things they can do while lecture is going on but they have to know themselves how studies are important for the future.

Actually cell phones are not neccessary inside the college campus. Because they disturbing other and send waste sms and time.. that's why i said cell phones are not necessary

cell phone has both merits and demerits. according to parents view they want to communicate with their son/duaghter at any time. parents want to know where their childrens r going and when they will be returning to home. they want to know whether their childrens reached t college safely r not. students should decide where they should use cell phones. while lecture is taking class means at that time they can switch off t cell, if they r honest and want to concentrate in class they will surely do it. i have seen such people while i was studying. so upto me using cell phone in college depends on individual view. students should think for wat purpose their parents bought cell phone for them, they should not use that in wrong way.

Cell phones ofcourse are necessary to every student.....No,one can stop the students, if he is learning something...restricting students doesnt make them really keeping them in good way,it is like simply telling them to do in that way.
As cellphones became a necessary thing to human being y not for students, ofcourse students willnot disturb the classes wantedly, they willnot play any music or ringtones while class is running...because he/she is educated.

Previously, mobiles are maintained just for fashion, but now-a-days college students are getting calls from companys..because most companies are conducting telephone interviews.If the person doesnt carry the moblile with him , how can he attend the interview ?

So, my opinion is cellphones in colleges/universities for students is necessary, no student will commit mistake wantedly, if they commits also they will learn from that. But lecturers and society should forgive their mistakes,they shouldnot start any rules.

Well , In my view cellphones are necessary to every person whether it be a student or common man. In case of students ,parents can be assured of their childrens safety. They can call him/her at any time to know , where are they ?.
Coming to the point of using cellphones in classes , as Keerthi said No educated guy/gal will use the cellphone in class.
Actually , this topic for discussion is not for discussing cellphones in classes or not. Some students for fun sake take pictures/videos in classes , canteens and library of thier co-students ...who might be in a compromising postion. Then they circulate it outside , this can spoil the life of the students involved in it. So , the govt wants to ban use of cellphones in colleges. But, I STRONGLY recommend not to ban cell phones but , just ban phones with cameras.This can completely solve the problem.

Both advantages and disadvantages are there in using cell phones. It is mainly depends upon the individual who use it.

If government band cell phones in colleges, many people will get affected, as it is verymuch useful for the people, who are utilising it properly.

I think it is better to avoid cellphones with camera, as it is not necessary for any colleges.

Well, reagarding the necessity of cell phones it can't be said that its an essential requirement for our students.Being a college student I have seen that most of the students are busy in chatting while teacher is teaching and they highly concentrate on the studies. Banning cell phones obviously won't do any further to let students concentrate in the studies coz they will find any other means to use them.
So, according to me cell phones are not necessary in colleges but banning them won't do anything good even.

As binny said, government should take action on banding camera mobiles from students inside colleges and there should be a strong rule that each and every student must kept there mobile in silent mode or better to swtich off.

why iam insisting this point particularly is, for example :- if a student is interestingly listening a class, then at that point of time he/she may get a call or msg from their freinds or even parents, if we want to avoid all those things, we should follow the rule mentioned above.

So according to me, a student can carry cell phone with him inside a campus, because any rule should not affect the persons who are using their own property in proper way.

It is unnecessary to talk about the students who are misusing it, its depends on his/her own likings.
