Wishful thinking indeed! It would be the key element for world peace. There
will be no instrument to wage a war. It will also remove fear and distrust
among various nations. We wont have a defense budget. This means more funds
channelised into other productive areas. Reduced terrorism and very little
separatist groups




But the disadvantage could be imposition by one group, anarchy, laissez
faire politics, lawlessness ..etc..

As someone said "Peace couldbe achieved with a barrel ofa gun".


If you think of this issue deeply, you will come accross some questions i your mind.. what is the price of your freedom? what is the price of your safety and dignity of you and your loved ones? You just cant it into figures, can you?


Whatever freedom we enjoy in this world is because we are "FREE", becauseof our armed forces who protect our borders with their livesat stake.We all owe them.


But power, military or political,can be dangerous if in wrong hands. So, it too has to be balanced, by governing bodies.


Many think that without armies, the world would be a better place. Well, in my opinion, there will be nothing as such...

I disagree with both of you.If there were no armies in the world then their would be peace.Well if you see at a global level;no armies ,no boundaries,no countries,only one world.The world will be bursting out of its seams of nationalisation and liberalisation will take center stage.People will interact more and their will be free trade policies.When your wish of no armies is fulfilled then more constructive policies will emerge for betterment of mankind as a whole.Edited by: faraz

dear faraz, according to you at a global level, we can think of a situation whr thr is no army,no boundary, no country. but faraz reality tells us to count from the opposite side. i.e. its because of countriesand their boundaries, we need armies. and we can't ignore the importance of having well defined boundaries, asit is said,"Good fencing makes good relation". now ,u were talking about having one world,but i think it is always better to have small pieces of everything as then they can be looked after well. just as we always break a large complicated progam code into smaller modules.


now comes the question of defense budget and war. obviously to maintain an army we are to spend a portion of our wealth and i think its worth it.its nothing but a part and parcel of any country. And regarding wars,i think its the authorities who are interested in wars or in waging weapons. and its not because armies are there, there is war. the truth is "as war is there the authorities employ trhe armies".

Yes even i agree with arunabha, it is not necessary that if their is no army there will be peace watever we are today it is cos of army,to protect us they sacrificed their lives.


Army is the heart of thenation and life of thenation...I am very proud of them.Army is fighting with terrorism they are the main reason who are controlling terrorism till some extent.

If there were no armies in the world…



Well the world couldnt be manageble if we dont
have armies since , peace concept to be brought its not one mans/
countries /continents contribution . It shud only come from
collective contribution ..

There are also other factors like GOVERNMENT and Certain
Disciplined Forces like ARMY , NAVY AND AIR FORCE coming in to picture
for every nation to protect their country . With out them there wont be
individual identity for a nation to exist ..Since NOTHING is for
charity today



For ex Considering INDIA and PAKISTAN .. Pakistan is still
trying to capture Kashmir as well as entire india .. which we are
fighting against still today .. not to happen since INDIA Looses its
identity ... if that happens .. THIS IS BEING CONTROLLED TODAY BECOS OF
OUR PROUD ARMED MEN , who are still fighting contributing their lives
behalf of all the indians ...



I guess the reason still we can be safe today without any threat from
other countries is still becos of their effort and contribution.

So No Armies is wrong concept actually ... atleast in todays world..
That wd have only possible AT TIMES OF RULE OF ANCIENT TIMES ...

I feel that army is the soul of every country.Nobody can go freely within their country itself.there will be absolute insecurity,ctotal disorder of law and order everywhere. We are able to enjoy freedom only because of the army who iscombating the cross-border terrorism in our borders. Without the army there will be intrusion from neighbouring countries which can result to faciltating terrorist activities.

I thinkbefore thinking about"world without armies" i think we need to think about the "world without terror ".To say in a single world "UTOPIA" - a place of ideal perfection which is an impractical scheme for political or [img]smileys/smiley9.gif[/img]social perfection.


Then we will think of a world without armies.

world without army really its unable to think because for example our country. we have a great army in the world. we have NAVY,AIR FORCE,ARMY but after having this much of strength we are all facing terrorist problems in our country if the world is without army its cant imagine about safety of people.


not only in that in our country when natural disasters like earth quake and floods are occured army is doing unvaluable help for us by shifting people safe. they have no limitations in their courage and commitment and they are sacrifising their lives for our protection.


after their sacrifice what we r doing. we are just giving a compensation and a award to their and we r forgetting them.


so army in the sense not only for protecting people but also helping in natural disasters

"Wanted to live in dat kinda world"..were THERE WUD B NO ARMIES peace n only peace wud be thru da minds of da people n no 1 'll harm each other...dat a kinda place every1 'll love to live.... wid no hatered among dem.

And above all the Money which is spent over these activities like Raising a soilder,buying ammunation etc cn den be used up in a more effective way viz providing food,shelter n other useful things...
