Treatment for Dry Hair

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dry hair looks dull and lifeless. This type of hair craves moisture, and in most instances requires a healthy dose of protein. Dry hair needs protection in the form of emollients and lubricants, which will lay down the outside cuticle layer of the hair and create shine. Humectants will attract and retain moisture within this type of hair. Daily cleansing and conditioning with moisturizing and emollient treatments will go a long way toward alleviating a dry, tight scalp, while replenishing lost moisture and proteins along the hair shaft. Moisturisers contain "humectants" that not only replace lost moisture but actually attract moisture and retain it in the cortex of the hair.

Therefore use moisturisers, which have "humectants" in it. Essential fatty aids (EFA's) are great moisturizers. One of the best and most cost effective essential fatty acids is safflower oil. The scalp produces the best EFA's called sebum but sebum cannot reach upto the entire length of the hair if the hair is long. Hence it is necessary that to treat dry hair you have to use proper conditioners and moisturisers.

Treating your hair with natural moisturisers as follows:
Take a few drops of safflower oil in your palms and carefully take your hair (while dry) and apply the small amount of oil to the ENDS first and work toward the scalp. By applying safflower oil your dry hair will have the proper amount of humectants to attract and retain moisture.
Leave this in your hair for atleast 2 hours before washing.
Use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner (on ends only) every other day. Rinse with water alone on off days.
Avoid heat-styling (blow-drying, flat-ironing) as often as possible because it damages your hair.
When you're at the beach, spread some of the sunscreen you use on your body through your hair so that it doesn't dry out and get crispy.

Hair Coloring using Kitchen Ingredients

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For natural black hair, brew one strong cup of espresso and let cool completely. Pour on dry hair and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse.

For blond hair, brew some chamomile tea and let cool completely. Pour on dry hair and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse. For red hair, use lemon-balm tea.

If you have been contemplating adding a little 'gold' to your locks go ahead. Summer is the perfect time to do it. Keep the bleach and chemicals off of your scalp and have a professional do it. It is worth the money. Don't do the do-it yourself highlighter kits unless you really know what you are doing.

Using Mehendi :
While it is true that hair dyes contain chemicals that may damage your hair in the long run, that does mean that there is no hope for people with gray hair. Our very own Mehendi is a very good alternative. Further if used properly, it will not give your hair the traditional red colour. Here are a few pointers to help you colour gray hair the right way. First of all always use Mehendi of a good quality.
Soak mehendi overnight in an iron vessel and then use it the other day.
If you do not want to colour your hair and only want to use it as a conditioner, then oil your hair before applying it and leave it on only for an hour or so.
If you wish to give your hair a reddish tinge, add 'katha' to it. Or boil and add grated beet.
If you want a bronze effect, add coffee powder to mehendi. You can also add oil to the mehendi paste.
For jet black hair, soak Amla overnight and then add this to the mehendi paste and keep this overnight in an iron vessel. Apply it the next day.
Wrap a cloth around your shoulders and use gloves to apply mehendi in order to avoid soiling your clothes. Take care that mehendi does not touch your ears or face, or else the colour won't go for some days.
For best results, do not shampoo your hair after applying mehendi. Rinse your hair with plain water.

Shades of Grey :

Here is a very good natural remedy for gray hair.

Ingredients :

250 Gms mehendi [old and of a good quality]

2 spoons Amla powder

2 spoon Shikakai powder

2 spoon Aritha powder

Method :

Mix all of these together. Dissolve half a cup of coffee powder in water and boil it. When it cools, mix all the ingredients and make a smooth paste. Keep this paste for 12 hours. Before applying to hair, add some curd to it. Instead of curd you can also use an egg. Hair should be preferably clean and specifically not oily before applying this paste or else the treatment won't work. Wash off the hair pack after 4 hours. Take this treatment once in every 15 days regularly to effectively darken gray hair and reduce their further appearance.

Hair Care For Teens

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Every girl has a different hair texture and hair type. Some have dry hair, some have oily hair while some have normal hair. Therefore each hair type has a different treatment.

Care for oily hair:
Oily hair has a very common teenage problem because your scalp is producing a little more sebum and oil than it should. For oily hair care do the following:

1. Wash your hair as often as you can and if possible everyday but use a mild shampoo or a shampoo, which is for frequent or daily use.
2. Avoid using anti-dandruff shampoos, which also stimulates the sebaceous glands to produce more sebum.
3. Try not to brush and comb your hair a lot since both of these activities will stimulate the sebaceous glands.
4. You don't have to apply a conditioner for oily hair.
5. If you want to make your hair drier then you can get it permed, dyed or tinted.

Care for dry hair:
Dry hair needs extra care since it easily gets split ends and looks listless. For dry hair care do the following:

1. Always use a good conditioner after applying shampoo and washing your hair.
2. Let your hair dry naturally and even if you do use a blower, dry your hair on low heat.
3. Before shampooing your hair apply oil thoroughly to your hair and keep it for 1 hour and then wash.
4. Wash your hair as infrequently as possible, perhaps once in 4 days and use a mild shampoo.
5. Don't brush your hair out, just comb it gently.

Dealing With Dandruff Trouble
Dandruff is a big problem and an embarrassment but if you know your facts right about dandruff you can deal with this problem. Dandruff is not abnormal, nor does an infection or fungus cause it. It is merely skin cells that are lost from the surface of your scalp all the time and the presence of hair blocks the dead cells from falling off. They become piled up into thicker dead scales and this is called dandruff. You can thus control this accumulation of dead cells with regular, frequent washing, if possible everyday with a mild shampoo or a shampoo for daily use. Avoid rubbing or scratching but rinse your hair thoroughly so that you don't leave any shampoo behind.

Choosing a Hairstyle
Your hairstyle should be one which is easily manageable and which will allow to be dried naturally and too much styling. The best way to find a hairstyle is to flip through a magazine and whichever style you choose make sure that it suits your face and looks realistic.

thanks and regards
