Arrow Tooth Ache & Sparkling Teeth

Sparkling Teeth

Looking after your teeth is very important. If teeth are cleaned properly it prevents the formation of plague around the gums of teeth. Plague forms easily after food is eaten, and bacteria thrive in it. This starts decay in tooth enamel and encourages inflammation of the gums. Gum diseases are as destructive as tooth decay. The most important thing is to watch your diet. Sugar is the main cause of food decay. Therefore it is essential to reduce the intake of sweets, jams, cakes, biscuits, sweet drinks and chocolate

Some tips to help keep teeth sparkling clean and prevent tooth decay.

§ Make sure your teeth are kept scrupulously clean with regular brushing. It is important to learn how to brush properly. Move the brush from the gum to the biting edge, working the bristles between the teeth to dislodge food particles.
§ Besides the teeth, the gum should also be cleaned. Massage them in the same stroke as brushing your teeth and give them an occasional extra massage, rubbing them gently in circular movement with a little toothpaste on your finger. Brush teeth systematically around the front and then the inside followed by a sawing movement across the tops of the teeth.
§ Use dental floss to remove particles stuck between the teeth.
§ Use a mouthwash to make sure that your breath is fresh. Put a few drops in warm water and rinse your mouth after you clean your teeth in the morning.
§ Brush your teeth after every meal if possible. If not, then night and morning.
§ If you can't brush your teeth after a meal, try eating an apple instead.
§ Use a toothpaste containing fluoride which helps fight tooth decay.
§ Visit the dentist regularly and this will help keep your teeth healthy.
Besides the above mentioned tips, there are some homemade beauty aids that can help keep teeth sparkling clean. These recipes are simple and inexpensive.
§ For sparkling teeth, rub them once or twice a week with a dried bay leaf (Tej Patta)
§ Another method to keep teeth sparkling clean is to brush the teeth with a bit of table salt once a week.
§ Rub yellowing teeth with a piece of cotton wool dipped (and then squeezed out) in hydrogen peroxide. This has a slight bleaching effect.
§ Use Baidyanath RED TOOTH PASTE - twice daily after lunch and dinner
Beauty of the Teeth

A good smile is sure to get you all the attention. When you speak or smile, teeth are on show and if they look beautiful you definitely have some asset to be proud of. Therefore, it is important that you take care of those tiny pearls that make your smile so special.

§ Brush your teeth at least twice a day with anti-bacterial fluoride toothpaste like Baidyanath Red Tooth Paste as it would help strengthen tooth enamel.
§ Don't forget to floss your teeth after brushing as this would help remove the plaque and food debris that get stuck between your teeth and gum line.
§ A good toothbrush is as important as the toothpaste. But care should be taken in choosing the shape and brand of toothbrush. A good one should have small angled head and soft to medium rounded bristles. This is important as it helps clean all those hidden areas of your teeth.
§ Remember to replace your brush before it gets de-shaped. It may otherwise injure your gum by the scratches made during brushing. Ideally a brush should be changed every three months.
§ It is advisable to try and breathe through your nose as breathing through mouth dries up the protective saliva causing teeth and gum problems.
§ Massaging your gum with your fingertips is good for your teeth as this boosts blood circulation.
§ If your teeth have stains, you can remove them by rubbing strawberries or putting three tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda with two tablespoons of salt. Also ashes of burnt bread, charcoal, burnt rosemary, honey, salt and eye-meal remove the stains on teeth.
§ You should remember to wash your teeth after taking any food so that neither stains nor food sedimentation can occur.
§ Also if you have bad breath problems, use breath freshening products and mouthwashes to make you smell fresher.
§ To use as mouthwash take ¼ cup of vinegar, ½ cup wine, ½ cup honey, and 1 teaspoon of powdered cloves and boil them. This works as an effective mouthwash.
§ Lastly, to give your teeth some sparkling effect, mix two teaspoons of sea salt and two teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide in a large glass of warm water. Then wash your mouth.
Toothache

"Toothache" usually refers to pain around the teeth or jaws. In most instances, toothaches are caused by tooth or jaw problems, such as a dental cavity, a cracked tooth, an exposed tooth root, gum disease, disease of the jaw joint (temporo- mandibular joint), or spasms of the muscles used for chewing. The severity of a toothache can range from chronic and mild to sharp and excruciating. The pain may be aggravated by chewing or by cold or heat.

Causes of toothache

Common dental causes of toothache include dental cavities, dental abscess, gum disease, irritation of the tooth root, cracked tooth syndrome, temporomandibular disease, impaction, and eruption.

Dental Cavities

Dental cavities (caries) are holes in the two outer layers of a tooth called the enamel and the dentin. The enamel is the outermost white hard surface and the dentin is the yellow layer just beneath the enamel. Both layers serve to protect the inner living tooth tissue called the pulp, where blood vessels and nerves reside. Certain bacteria in the mouth convert simple sugars into acid. The acid softens and (along with saliva) dissolves the enamel and dentin, creating cavities.

Gum Disease

Gum disease refers to inflammation of the soft tissue (gingiva) and abnormal loss of bone that surrounds the teeth and holds them in place. Gum disease is caused by toxins secreted by bacteria in "plaque" that accumulate over time along the gum line. This plaque is a mixture of food, saliva, and bacteria. Early symptoms of gum disease include gum bleeding without pain.

Toothache at a Glance

· The most common cause of a toothache is a dental cavity.
· The second most common cause of toothache is gum disease.
A toothache can be caused by a problem that does not originate from a tooth or the jaw.
