Conflicts between people can be of many types and the reason for it can be very small some times.

Before trying to resolve a conflict, understand the conflict itself before trying to resolve it. Then we have to estimate the complexity and seriousness of the conflict. If the conflict is small and if it will wanish with time, then leave it as it is than making an issue.

In other case, try to get the both parties (affected) understanding of the situation and listen to their points. If needed we need to speak to both parties personally so that they can raise their points more clearly without any hesitation. Once both parties points and issues were clear, try to come up with a negotiation plan which includes different alternative solution which are of interest/benefical for both the parties. This could be just one of the way to resolve conflict between people.

But before anything, the affected parties should be flexible and willing to come out of the conflict. Otherwise, negotiation is of no use and even if we do, the output will slide to one parite's interest and the resultant is a compromise, not negotiation.
