wait() method, and notify() and notifyAll() methods. These three must only be called when the calling thread has acquired the lock.

What is a calling Thread? Is it a thread which has already acquired lock on the Object?

Yes it means, it is a thread which has already acquired a lock on an object or a resource, these three methods can only be called on a thread which has already acquired the lock
