read microsft excel

dear friend

can u tell me how can we read microsft excel file using java code.
it will be realy useful if u can provide me code for that.

Qaisar,

I never tried this solution. But I heard this from my friend and he said he implemented it and it worked.

If you are using ODBC driver to connect to DB, you can create ODBC connection to connect to excel files also very similar to any other DB. First lines in the excel sheet will become column names.

Otherwise, you have some opensource packages which will help you do this with out the help of ODBC. Will post those link once I get them.

can u tell me the link where i can download jakarta api POI
package ?i tried but it showing list of dirctory if i click on any directory again list of directory is coming i am getting confused form where i can download jakarta POI package?
