TTL Value....

Hai everybody,

To get the IP address of all the system connected in the network, I issued the Ping command and get the IP address of all the system in the network.

But during Pinging, TTL value for the device (our own product - TTL = 64) and for Systems (TTL = 128). And also some systems to have TTL as 64. I am totally confused. Why this TTL is varying between the systems, between system and devices. Who is the originator of TTL? What is the cause for this change?

Can I use this TTL value to differentiate my system and devices in the network. Is it effective?

Reply me please.....

Mani.......
