beginning linux programming by neil matthew,richard stone
understanding linux kernel o rielly.

advantage of using linux..
its a operating system which is multiuser,multi tasking.simple to use.

Windows is Vulnerable to many hacking and virus attacks...SO , now many websites/portals are hosted on a Linux Platform. It has much more security and muti tasking abilities compared to Windows. The most important thing is ...many of the flavours of Linux are FREE and others are much cheaper than Windows...

Advantage of learning Linux is you confuse urself as to which platform to choose. You career is screwed since youve learnt all throught your education about windows and when u put ur hands into linux, you understand nothing is as easy as microsoft product.

Linux has lots and lots of bugs and is for advanced programmers.

But if u need to survive in todays market cant avoid being confused and frustrated with technologies.

Best way of learning Linux -- Use a command "man <topic_name>" or "info <topic_name> after u have installed Linux.

Another caution .. choose an OS among the exisiting .. lemme confuse u a bit...

1) Red Hat
2) Mandrake
3) Debian
4) SUSE ( Sun Microsystems)

One good thing is Linux is open source gives u source code which u do not understand [img]smileys/smiley36.gif[/img]

But Linux is challengin, if u can get goin with it .. i wud love to learn from u

be ready to face the consequences.

the biggest adv is it is virus free no programmer no viruses

aslo it is very powerful even you can design ur own os

the linux by kerininghan is a very useful book
