Help me

Hey guys,

This is Sathya. I'm doing my BE in PESIT, Bangalore. I'm currently in 5th Sem. I'm interested in doing MS in one of the top US universities. I've started preparing for GRE also and i'm in the initial stages. My query is, many of my seniors who are doing MS say that u need 2 shell out too much of money. I'm not financially so strong. So, plz anyone suggest me. When shall i give my GRE exams? Shall i work for some 1 -1.5 yrs, save some pennies and then think abt doin MS? I need the exact range of hw much money do i need to do MS in US universities only. Plz help me

Regards,
Sathya

Re: Help me

hi satya,
i think MS costs 7 to 8lakhs if u pay fee.
but there r so many alternates...........if u get good score in gre, toefl then the universities itself they pay the fees.......it depends on ur score. if u good very good score universities wil pay the complete fees....depending on ur gre score fee will be there............orelse u can take study loan(most of the students wil do this).........
if u just work hard then u may get good score then no need to pay fee......so all depends upon ur gre, tofel score...........so prepare well for 2 or 3 months....do hardwork..............wish u all the best

Re: Help me

Hi spoorti,

Thanx 4 ur suggestion. I'm very grateful to you. I've a list of queries regarding the above topic. Take your own time to post your reply.
My queries are as follows.

1. How are US universities ranked? How to select the universities? i.e. whether their rank is based on geographical location, or placements, or coaching? If so, i need a link which gives full details about the ranking of US universities based on all the criteria.

2. I think it costs more than 7-8 lakhs because one of my relative is doing MS in University of Arizona, Tucson. His dad said it costs around 18-20 lakhs on the whole. He didn't get any scholarships. But, he has some on-camps job over there using which he is leading life. So, tell me your view about this.

3. Finally, prescribe good books for GRE and TOEFL. I've started with Barron's book. Is there any other books to be reffered? Is it necessary to go to tuitions? Plz suggest me.

check this link
http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/col...udoc_brief.php

if u approch any institute for GRE they'll tell abt these things more clearly.

it depends on GER score...if u get aid then feel will be less...if u dont get scholarship also there u can manage by dng part time jobs....

my sugg is go to the institutes n prepare............bcoz somehow it will be difficultif u prepare by ur own but if u go to tutions it will be better....n u will get clear idea abt all the things....they'll conduct exams etc so there wont be any fear...........
