okay my experience in ielts:


I was seated in a convention hall in a five star hotel and the first was reading section!they told us to start and i started off!There were some 40 questions in all of around 6-7 passages.The beginning ones were easy and in the later ones the last and second last i missed one question each.Then came the listening part,we were shown a demo of how to put on the headphones and the voice was checked .Then I started ,the dialogues being said were of good english ,clearly understood(no accent).I had to listen as well as jot down the answers.I was able to get all but 2-3 i guess at the most.Then was the WRITING PART.Well i did well ,i was confident.There were two parts in writing ,the first was a interpretation of a pie chart an the other was an essay on a topic!!I did it well by firs t writing briefly about it and then giving a small summary of the percentages and how they amounted to total and how they differed from the greatest percentage.I didn't write and tried to be precise and did comparison study!Then there was the essay,the topic was BILLIONS OF DOLARS HAVE BEEN SPENT ON SPACE ,DO U THINK IT WOULD BE BETTER TO SPEND IT ON HUMNA WELFARE?I said yes so much money shudn't pe pumped in space exploration.Instead it shud be for the human welfare.Igave a good exp-lanation of how much is being recklessly being spent and sited an example of Kalpana Chawla who had to give her life !!I was really confidnet with my essay and didn't write much!!!Then it was over we had a few snacks being offered at the end,the last module was to be held the next day!!The next day i was called at 3.00 p.m.i guess and the timing was precise as i was told to go to some room after a few minutes.There sat an old lady who welcomed me with a smiling face.She told me if i am ready or want something.She told me everything will be recorded o nthe taperecorder beside her.I said i am ready and she pressed the tape button and started off:C:What season's do you know in india?me:there are basically four seasons in india.C:Which is ur favorite season?me:My favorite season is winter!C:Why?me:coz i like the season as its cold and we can play games and we can wear good clother on the day.C:okay,now i will give u some time ,u have to ell me aboutthis topic after a minute.me:okay,she passed me a paper and a pencil.The topic was tours.C:ok lets start ,what are the various tours which people go on?Well ther are many tours which people go ,like educational tour,business tour,holiday tour etc..She asked me what my best tour was and why?I answered and after that she said okay and sent me off.I was confident of getting 7 above.But, to my joy I got an overall aggregate of 8.0 bandscore from a possible of 9.0 with reading 7.5 listening,reading7.5,speaking and writing 8.0.So i got an overall score of 8.0!!Anyways iddint expect a higher in speaking and writing but was surprised to see a good one in that!!I think everybody shud write IELTS ,it will count in ur acads and resume!!I wrote that exam in nov 2003!!!during my final year of grads...[img]smileys/smiley17.gif[/img]
