OLTP

OLAP

Online Analytical Processing

Eg: All DWH SAP BW, SAS, Informatica + Erwin + Cognos

Deals with Past Data

Deals with Detail Data

Deals with Summarized Data

Supports ERM

Supports MDM

Supports DML Operations (Read & Write)

Read only

Can be Used by End User / Any User

Can be used by Top Management Only

Huge number of concurrent users

Less number of concurrent users

It Deals with less volume of data
