what is SID table and its advantages?

sid is called as sorrogate ID, it main advantage is to convert from alpha-numerics to numerics for faster acess the data

SID is Surrogate ID table....it is the interface between master data and dimension tables....
SID Advantages are:
uses numeric as indexes for faster access
master data independent of infocubes
language support
slowly changing dimension support
