If you are going through interface or other interaction mechanism to verify if the application is performing what it has to do, it is functional testing.

Let us assume now you are testing the look-and-feel, then it is non-functional testing. Here our concentration is not on checking whether the test case is going through fine or not. But rather every form/page is built with standards or not, how user will feel it he sees it, is it easy or messy to work with, is there adequate context-sensitive help and so on becomes important. Similar examples are performance testing, load testing, stress testing and so on.

Functional requirements = what shall your application do?
Non-functional requirements = how shall the functional requirements be fulfilled (e.g. in terms of performance, reliability, fault tolerance, ...)?

Sorry to say. But, I don't agree with you.

There can be many situations where we know the difference between things, but we can't put them exactly in words. In those situations we need to take help of others to put our ideas in words...

Here, every type of users come to increase/share their knowledge. Some of them may not even know anything in computers but they want to learn computers. We should help them too...

Either it is me or you or anyone, no one knows every thing. We can know things only by asking various questions... I belive what kompella has done is correct. He has a doubt and he tried to clarify it. Thats all. We should encourage such people.

I apologize and very much agreed with ur point, I always encourage people who help himself to know something, but don't mind, not those who fully depends on others. My point is a person should do homework with basic thinks and there are enough material we people have pasted in forum, first go through that, we are not here to learn full course. We are here to increase our wisdom with sharing and gaining knowledge.

I believe in God helps them who help himself.

Anyway, I always look fordward to answer all the questions and I will do that until my last interest, but I am stick to my believe.
