I have heard good things and bad about the bible and I tried the Javascript and Dhtml cookbook but it was difficult to read does anyone have suggestions? |

Even though not complecated, it is huge book to read completely. But will be a good reference at any point of time. For CSS, online tutorials are enough. Also along with these, I will recommend to use firefox with an addon called FireBug. This will help you in learning and experimenting and debugging CSS. This is a must use utility for CSS developers.
